Catch the Wind!

Mary S. Neff, Ph.D.,
DTM for District 46 Lt. Governor Marketing East Dear District
46 Toastmaster: You have seen
many letters like this before. But I am surprised to be writing to ask you
to consider my qualifications for the office of Lt. Governor Marketing East.
I’ve been a member for 27 years, in eight clubs in two different districts, and have
attended many District conferences in Districts 56 and 46, as well as some
Regional and International Conventions. I was Area Governor five times
in two different districts, Division F (46) Governor in 1989-1990 (the last
year Division F reached from the Westchester-Putnam border to the tip of Long
Island), and am currently Division G Governor. You will notice that I am on my second career of service to District 46; I caught a second wind with my HPL project, and it has blown me, inspired by the concept of service exemplified by Bibi Haddad and Radhi Spear, to an unexpected place. Having been deputized by the current LGM to organize multiple demonstration meetings in Westchester County and observing myself getting absolutely wired training VP’s of Membership and PR, I realized that I wanted to step up to doing club extension at a higher level. As we grow in Toastmasters, we sometimes surprise ourselves. My training initiatives as Area Governor last year and Division Governor this year have resulted in a significant increase in the number of officers trained and the number of clubs represented in training. I have a particular interest and strength in developing people to achieve their educational and leadership goals. Tell me what your goals are, and I will find a place on my team for you. I will challenge you to go for more. I would like my legacy to be that future club and district leaders will say that my service to them inspired them to service to you. When you mark your ballot at the business meeting on May 19, 2007 at the District 46 Spring Conference, please vote for me for Lt. Governor Marketing East.
